Solar decathlon contest includes food, entertainment

Purdue University Solar Decathlon 2011 Menus and Recipes

One of the 10 contests for the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2011 is Home Entertainment. It is judged throughout the week based on special events and lighting.

The special events include two dinner parties and the movie night. Participants for each event include members of competing teams and special guests.

Purdue will host its second dinner party tonight (Sept. 28). Lee Causey, controls designer, and Sarah Miller, architecture and design manager, will be cooking. Their menu includes fried chicken tenderloin with all the comforts of the Midwest, corn on the cob, salad, fruit salad and chocolate mousse,

In fact, each team had to create a printed menu (PDF) with recipes for the event (the image above is taken from the menu).

Visit the Solar Decathlon Web site for a complete description of the Home Entertainment contest, and stay tuned for more results throughout the week.
